Balaji Telefilms going down – Is it true

Posted by Administrator on September 22, 2005 - (19)

They are mum but there is sure a fatigue in Indian television viewers over the “saas bahu” sequels. Kasauti Zindagii ki, Kyunki saas bhi kabhi, kahani ghar ghar ki seems to go on forever, and viewers have no clue on how far they will go. Take for example Milee, which is now being aired on prime slot is made by Raman Kumar, Vinta Nanda and Dheeraj Kumar all 3 greats of Indian television. Raman Kumar and Vinta Nanda is well known for their serial ‘Tara’ which was aired on Zee and was a great hit.

Surely, balaji telefilms and KBC are the 2 on Star Plus, which are responsible for the position the Star Plus is enjoying today. However, with the outcry of something new it would be surely worrying point for the channel. Is Balaji showing signs of wear? Well your comments on the same would be valuable.

Fame Gurukul Update – September 21

Posted by Administrator on September 21, 2005 - (55)

Fame Gurukul Update – September 21: Sandeep sang (Bindiya lagati from Euphoria) well today and was well appreciated by the judges (Mind blowing, Bemisal and stuning were the words used by them). Arijit was good too and especially his performance was better today apart from his song. Judges commented – Fantastic, Concentrate on things other then technicalities. He sang “Tujhe lage na Nazariya” and danced like the original Sonu. Ruprekha seemed a bit down today. I learned that she has some breathing problem and this might be the reason for her not so good performance today. She sang “chandani raatein, sab jag sooye hum jaage” and judges commented – Your voice is nice, sang well, but you really sang well in spite of your breathing problem.

Rooprekha is going to be in trouble today and public votes could only save her. Arpita must be on a lookout for a chance to get her out and this could be a danger point for Rooprekha too. Or do you people think otherwise, Please comment….

Aishwarya Rai is going to appear on Jerry Springer

Posted by Administrator on September 21, 2005 - (9)

Aishwarya Rai is going to appear on Jerry Springer

Aishwarya Rai is already in the list of major US movie-makers but the najor drawback for her would be to make a distance with kissin scene and more which is quite common in movies there. Aishwarya Rai is confident that she would be able to convince directors and scriptwriters in getting suitable roles which will not require raunchy – and offensive – scenes.

Roger Lodge, host of “Blind Date” –America’s No. 1 TV dating humiliation show said, We’ve booked Aishwarya Rai to appear on a show section where she will date Lorenzo — a past stripper who needs to be a stay-at-home dad. He’s exhausted of the superficial dating scene, but wants to form a love connection and score on the first date. We’ll have to see how far he gets with Aishwarya.

Simone Sheffield, manager To Aishwarya Rai, was pleased to publicize that Miss Rai would be appearing on a special version of “Jerry Springer: Too Hot For TV” episode where the gorgeous actress will wrestle with a 380 pound woman in a trailer over some guy with a mullet, no teeth, and a 7th grade education.

Aishwarya says that she is delighted for the prospect to show her talent to such a selective audience. I’ve heard some magnificent things about Jerry Springer. He told me that many of the artists on his show go on to become big Hollywood screen stars. He promised me that no one would attempt and kiss me or rip off my clothes. I am still a bit puzzled about why I require bodyguards on his show, but I speculate it will all work out OK. I hope my mother in India will be watching on the satellite!

Popularity of reality shows and the darker side of it

Posted by Administrator on September 19, 2005 - (2)

Barry B. Langberg a lawyer represents one couple for reality show for …
“Something like this is done for no other reason than to embarrass people or humiliate them or scare them. The producers don’t care about human feelings. They don’t care about being decent. They only care about money.”

It is true more for reality television shows in America but is slowly catching in the fastest growing television Industry i.e. India. The primary aim of these types of television series is to show painful, humiliating, embarrassing and a bit of joyous situations. After looking at all this, either people are entertained or are shocked. The bottom line is that they connect to it and talk about it with their tea or at dinner after the show. This is the major reason for great success of these types of programs. People do talk about these shows even after the show is over.

The perfect word for this type of behavior of getting high with the problems and failings of others is a German word Schadenfreude. However, are we Indians like that? With new reality show based on Fear factor with prize money of 10 lakh as episode winner and 1 Crore as the prize money for the final winner, Indians are surely going to get the real action soon.

Arijit Singh’s one vote against fellow contestant got whole world against him. Soon after everything was over, he got ‘opposite valvation in the heart’ felt breathless and collapsed. Doctors were called at Sony sets. Arijit case is only one we know. In the heat to 20 TV cameras, you need nerve of steel to maintain your cool. Slowly reality shows are getting under the skin of Indian audience as it already has done in western counterparts. The major question is do we Indians have the nerve to live it out. Well, you could only answer that.

Mum Tum Aur Hum: New game show at Star Plus

Posted by Administrator on September 19, 2005 - (90)

Star plus is going to launch its new game show, which will involve mother & child on September 19. It will run between Monday and Friday on 8 am slot. Right now, this slot is taken by ‘Dekho Magar Pyaar Se’, which is not doing well and has a quite low TVR.

Star Plus is quite strong in 8:30 to 11:30 pm slot. This program is eyed for making 8:00 pm slot profitable for Star too. Since this show involves mother and kids, family as a whole will like it. Shruti Seth and Rajendra Sharma is going to host Mum Tum Aur Hum.

The show will involve mother-child team, which will compete, with other teams and the winners will get a foreign tour to places like Mauritius or Sydney. The show seems promising as mother and child are involved together they have enough control in desiding the program that is watched by the family in their homes. The show is marketed right now vigorously in the prime time serials. The major competitor for the show will be Sony’s ‘Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai’, which is doing quite well on 8:00 pm slot. ‘Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai’ has a TVR rating of 4, which is not that strong and Mum Tum Aur Hum is going to post a tough fight.

Indian Idol 2 – Indian Idol 1 memories

Posted by Administrator on September 18, 2005 - (47)

Indian Idol 2 will be aired soon on Sony TV. Let us have a look at the past and the excitement that was there at some of the last few episodes.

20-1-2005: R D Burman special at Indian Idol – Kishore kumar songs are toughest to sing and that too if it is sung by great R. D. Burman. Performance of all the singers today was below par. Yoodleeyoo was and is unique today too and could be only sung by Kishore da.

27.1.2005: Patriotic Song at Indian Idol – Abhijeet was very good today. Ravinder is improving and his performance was very good today too. Aditi is going to be out tomorrow.

28.5.05: Aditi- A warm farewell – The choice of song was not good for Aditi and that is why she is out today. Indian Idol is all about how you perform on the ‘THE DAY’ and Aditi was not that good yesterday.

10.2.05: Abhijeet was best today – Abhijeet has proved that he has all that is required to be an Indian Idol. Prajakta is for sure the candidate who is going to be out tomorrow.

18.5.05: Rahul Vaidya is out of Indian Idol – It is ok and be the best person win India idol. After all, it is just a competition to bring out the best in India.

24.2.05 – Abhijeet is the Indian Idol. He is stupendous in his presentation. I think, the result was that 52% votes went to Abhijeet and 48% to Amit. India in fact gets two great singers who have there own natural voice.
